Huh Hi bluetoothkiwi, the turntable (part 48452) needs to be disassembled for this project. I cannot see a simple way to take it apart the part without damaging it. Is it supposed to be taken apart, if so, how? Thanx
Willie
PS So far I have enjoyed this book and hope to see similar one-kit projects.

Willie,

Yeah  - sorry - The turntable does need to be taken apart to assemble the handlebar.

Before the book was published, I have tried doing it with about five different turntables - and they tend to come apart with ease with very little force hence I suggested the idea in the book.

Avoid using something really sharp (e.g. screwdriver or knife). My teenage children used their nails: The best way is to stick your nail in to the gap between the grey and black bit and apply a slight force and they come apart. They click back into position when you press them together again.

Let me know if you are having problems - and I will do a step by step diagram using some photos.

Thanks for the message and I am glad you are enjoying the book!

Thanks Tim.

In the absence of teenage children and having very brittle fingernails,
I asked my neighbour's son to do it.

You're right. It was easy to do.  Embarrassed

I was quite scared when taking apart the turntable and it took me 15 min. I think it was becasue I was being too carefull I really dont want to ever ruin anything that is related to lego. Though the model is great and the way you thought of taking it apart and puting something in the middle is great. I never thought of takign it apart to fit a gear in there though i did thinkog puting a gear in there. I think putting a gear in ther ereally opens up new posibilities becasue it can make the whole thing spin with a single axle. I guess this really is a good idea book Cheesy. I prefer the title nxt idea book 2 but one kit wonders is ok too.
